Over the past several years, the Palm House has cooked and served dinner for our neighbors on Sunday nights. Because this is the only free meal in the community on that evening, we have grown from feeding five neighborhood folks to over one hundred homeless and hungry people every week! We are extremely grateful that this has grown beyond us, but unfortunately the Palm House is too small to accommodate this many people. For this reason we have partnered with Love and Care Ministries who have graciously offered their facilities to us for our Sunday meals!
These Sunday night dinners have not only helped connect us with many homeless and struggling people and families in Abilene, but they have also created an effective ministry opportunity in which others can get involved! Every week a new group, team, or organization comes to Love and Care to supply, prepare, serve and clean up a meal for 100-125 people. Our goal is to make this a citywide effort to create unity and build relationships with our neighbors.
We would like to invite your group, ministry team or service organization to participate in this opportunity to help the homeless community in Abilene. We are currently scheduling for the whole year, so if your team would like to participate, please contact us by sending an email or giving us a call.
